There was a season in my life when I couldn’t remember the last time I felt truly rested.

I was showing up every day—charting, rounding, operating, managing crises—and still, every part of me felt flatlined. Not emotionally detached, but physiologically depleted. I wasn’t sad. I wasn’t burned out in the classic sense. I was just… tired. All the time.

The kind of fatigue that sleep didn’t fix.

The kind that made me question if something was wrong with me.

Turns out, something was wrong—but not in the way I thought.

We Think Burnout Only Looks Like Breakdown

In healthcare, we often associate burnout with the dramatic: crying in the call room, snapping at colleagues, walking away from medicine altogether. But more often, it creeps in quietly—through the backdoor of our routines.

That was me.

I was still productive, still present, still “fine.”

It didn’t start with a detox. It didn’t start with a juice cleanse or some massive overhaul.

It started with a question:

“What if I stopped accepting fatigue as my baseline?”

That question led to a quiet rebellion in my day-to-day.

I started swapping plastic containers for glass.

I replaced my sugary protein bars with anti-inflammatory meals I could prep ahead.

I turned off screens an hour before bed and finally started honoring sleep like it was medicine.

Each change was small.

But the cumulative impact was a full-body shift.

The Energy Reset Isn’t About Perfection

Clean living doesn’t mean going off-grid or spending hundreds on organic everything.

For me, it looked like:

  • Creating a morning routine that supported hormone health, instead of fighting it.

  • Choosing whole foods that healed my gut, not stressed it.

  • Learning how fragrance and endocrine disruptors in everyday products were silently wearing me down.

  • Listening to my body’s signals instead of powering through them.

These weren’t “wellness hacks.”

They were acts of self-respect.
