VIRTUAL GRAND ROUNDS: HOW TO GET ATTENDINGS TO TRUST YOU AS A RESIDENT.
A free neuroscience-backed session for Residents who want to show up calm, credible, and confident when expectations are high.
Who: Fellows & Residents(all specialties) When: January 12,2026 Time: 7pm CST Where: Live on Zoom (free to attend)
If January feels heavier than you expected… this is for you.
January isn’t a “fresh start” in medicine.
It’s new rotations, new attendings, new expectations and the unspoken pressure to prove yourself fast.
Your brain is constantly scanning:
“Do they trust me yet?”
“Am I being watched?”
“One mistake and I lose credibility.”
Meanwhile:
You feel more tense and on edge on shift
You overthink simple decisions
You replay interactions with attendings long after rounds
You’re working just as hard — but it doesn’t feel like it’s landing
This isn’t an effort problem.
It’s a nervous system + performance problem.
Medicine trained you to function under pressure not to stay regulated while being evaluated.
When your brain is in threat mode, you don’t come across as clear, confident, or trustworthy even when you are capable.
The good news:
This isn’t a personality issue or a mindset gap.
It’s a brain pattern that can be retrained.
And when your nervous system settles, your communication sharpens, your decision-making improves, and attendings feel safer trusting you.
There’s nothing wrong with your work ethic.Your nervous system is just overloaded.
In this 60-minute Grand Rounds, you’ll learn how to:
Understand what’s actually happening in your “doctor brain” under evaluation pressure - How your amygdala, prefrontal cortex, and autonomic nervous system behave when you’re being watched and why you may freeze, over-explain, rush, or doubt yourself even when you know the answer.
Shift how you show up without changing who you are - Move from “trying to prove myself” to a regulated, grounded presence that naturally builds credibility.
Work with your brain’s performance rhythms - Protect your best cognitive windows and stabilize predictable crash points so January doesn’t drain you by week two.
Use 60–90 second regulation tools on demand – simple, evidence-informed nervous system resets you can use between patients, before family events, or in the car so you stop bringing a level-10 body into level-3 situations.
Interrupt post-shift mental replay - A practical neuro-based method to stop ruminating over cases, feedback, and conversations so you can actually rest and reset.
You’ll leave with physician-level explanations and tools you can use on your very next shift not vague wellness advice that ignores how medicine really works.
Show up live and receive to hear about the bonus 🎁
(Bonus revealed at the end of the live Grand Rounds. Live attendance required.)
You’re a resident or attending who looks “fine” on paper but feels tense, wired, or exhausted inside
You’re tired of generic wellness talks and want concrete, brain-based tools
You want attendings to trust your judgment without over-explaining or burning yourself out
You don’t want to quit medicine , you want a sustainable way to stay in it
You don’t want January to feel like this again
This Grand Rounds is for you if…
Meet Your Host:
Dr. Chrissy Guidry
I’m Dr. Chrissy Guidry - Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon, Life Coach, founder of Whole Body Optimism™, and New Mom.
I spent years in a culture of perfectionism and constant evaluation. On the outside, I was the reliable surgeon. On the inside, my nervous system was in a constant code.
After infertility, pregnancy at 42, trauma call, and my own version of burnout, I went deep into my prior MS degree in neuroscience to rediscover nervous system regulation, and performance psychology in order to find a different way to practice and live.
Now I help physicians retrain their brains and bodies so they can perform at a high level and feel like whole humans without leaving medicine.
In this grand rounds, you’ll feel both seen as a clinician and supported as a person.
You’ll leave this hour with:
A clear, simple mental model of what’s actually happening in your brain and nervous system during clinical overload.
A short script to transition out of “doctor mode” before walking into your home or your next social event.
At least two regulation tools you can start using the same day (no apps, no hour-long routines).
A new, more honest story about who you are in medicine that doesn’t require you to be superhuman to deserve rest.
A way to map your own energy windows so you stop scheduling your most demanding tasks in your worst brain time.
Questions You Might Be Asking
-
A: Come to whatever portion you can. Even 15–20 minutes of live regulation practice can shift how your brain handles the rest of your day. If I’m able to send a replay, I’ll share details on that in the follow-up email.
-
A: Nope. This is designed for physicians and residents in any specialty who live in high-intensity clinical environments.
-
A: No. This is neuroscience + real-world physician life. You’ll hear about prefrontal cortex, amygdala, autonomic nervous system, and rumination and you’ll get tools you can actually use on a consult, between cases, and at home.
-
A: It’s completely free. You just need to register with your name and email so I can send you the link and reminders.
Start 2026 different with these new tools…
You can’t control rotations, attendings, or expectations.
But you can change how your brain and nervous system meet them.
If you’re ready to start this year feeling grounded, credible, and trusted instead of tense and bracing, I’d love to have you join us.
